The Kansas Orchid Society (KOS) was formed in 1959 and maintains affiliation with the American Orchid Society (AOS) and South West Regional Growers Association (SWROGA). Several members are Judges and regularly participate in the judging of orchids at the Great Plains Judging Center in Oklahoma City.

Each year KOS has an Orchid Show in November. Orchid enthusists from throughout the United States enter their displays for judging and vendors bring a variety of orchid plants for public sales.

KOS also participates in the Wichita Garden Show which is held each spring. In addition to a huge orchid display designed and built by members, a sales area is stocked with blooming plants in a wide range of colors, sizes, and genera.

The Society's purpose is to:

  • keep members informed of current and future KOS activities and orchid-related events both nationally and internationally.
  • share information and educate those interested in the culture of orchids.
