Masdevallia ventricularia is native to northwestern Ecuador and Colombia. Ventriculus, in Latin means little belly, which appropriately describes an anterior bulging of the sepaline tube. This species is an intermediate to cool grower. The plant is small and produces small reddish brown flowers with reddish vertical stripes (Gerritsen & Parsons, 2005). Gerritsen, M. & Parsons, R.
